In June of 2013, me and a few friends snuck under the barbed wire into the Chernobyl exclusion zone and hiked 47km to Pripyat, the dead city. Although the local agencies provide daily bus-tours of the zone, the tourists are only shown a few staged photo-opportune places. We wanted to get the raw look at the city and the zone around it. For the next 5 days, we lived inside the zone. These photos convey just a small part of our experience there.

Please note: I spent many months researching and preparing for this trip. I do not recommend this to anyone who has not done their homework in understanding radiation, purchasing the appropriate gear and preparing for the physical challenge.
